WEB BASED TRAINING

SCOPE

The main restricting factor of web based training is the band width available for the transfer of files.  The file sizes need to be as small as possible which reduces the quality that can be produced and the types of files used to illustrate concepts, such as videos.

If the web based training is intended for distribution via the world wide web, the content designs will be different than if the intent is to distribute it on an intranet.  Then the quality and bandwidth capacity of the intranet is a factor.   

Effective web based training can be produced using two basic methods:  higher quality streaming technology or html standard internet technology.  Ask us for details.

Once the training distribution method is known, the content is basically the same as with computer based training.   The following is a general outline of available content for modules.

Custom Engineered Training Courses are designed around specific topics and/or processes. The scope is thoroughly reviewed with the client. Several stages of development require approval by the client's primary Subject Matter Expert and a designated manager before development in  begins.

Clients have many options.

Many of the elements of a WBT Training Course are optionally selected and agreed by the client.

• Worker enabling skills such as evaluation of computer skills and education level to engineer CBT system.
• Client Internal Processes-CBT system can be designed to conform to client internal processes.
• Content such as level of English, inclusion of colloquial English, street language, etc.
• Development issues such as visuals, photos, diagrams, video segments, animations, etc.
• Treatment such as sign-on procedures, self pace levels, instructional feedback, etc.
• Screen identification such as dividing learning into major sections (modules), titles, course maps, etc.
• Interactivity such as buttons for process, Overview, Review, Glossary, Bookmark, Menu, Help screens, etc.
• Standards & Conventions such as navigation tools, inclusion of bookmarks, linked glossary terms, etc.
• Style Conventions such as use of upper/lower case, alignment, text, fonts, etc.
• Graphic Arrangement.
