COMPUTER BASED TRAINING

SCOPE

There are two basic types of CBT Training modules produced by FACETS.  

1. Mass media CBT. These are pre-compiled generic modules. The content of these modules cannot be changed. Facets will entertain suggestions for new generic modules.

2. Custom Engineered Training Courses (CETC) that consist of one or more modules. The content of CETC modules are established by discussion with the client. The following is a general outline of available content for CETC modules.

Custom Engineered Training Courses are designed around specific topics and/or processes. The scope is thoroughly reviewed with the client. Several stages of development require approval by the client's primary Subject Matter Expert and a designated manager before development in  begins.

Clients have many options.

Many of the elements of a CBT Training Course are optionally selected and agreed by the client.

• Worker enabling skills such as evaluation of computer skills and education level to engineer CBT system.
• Client Internal Processes-CBT system can be designed to conform to client internal processes.
• Content such as level of English, inclusion of colloquial English, street language, etc.
• Development issues such as visuals, photos, diagrams, video segments, animations, etc.
• Treatment such as sign-on procedures, self pace levels, instructional feedback, etc.
• Screen identification such as dividing learning into major sections (modules), titles, course maps, etc.
• Interactivity such as buttons for process, Overview, Review, Glossary, Bookmark, Menu, Help screens, etc.
• Standards & Conventions such as navigation tools, inclusion of bookmarks, linked glossary terms, etc.
• Style Conventions such as use of upper/lower case, alignment, text, fonts, etc.
• Graphic Arrangement.

	This is a main menu screen. This screen permits the user to navigate the CD as needed. Each menu item on this screenshot is similar to a link on the Internet.
	This is one of many screenshots from a safety CBT. This particular CD treats various areas of safety depending on the subject industry. Safety CBTs are generally tailored to a specific product or industry.

	This is an interactive animation screen shot. The user can define the operating speeds of the reel and view the change to the reeling process and nip profile. This is typical of the type of process animations that can be engineered for a specific machine.
	This is another interactive animation. in this case, the user enters the operating parameters of a machine and the animation calculates an analysis of the  cycle based on the values entered.

CBT - Computer Based Training modules are designed to be used on personal computers using CD ROM.  CBT can be delivered on an individual PC or on local and wide area networks as well as an Intranet.
